GERIK: In promoting efforts to conserve and preserve rivers in Perak, Eco-Schools Perak organized the ‘Eco-Scribes Initiative: Young Journalists for River Restoration’ program at Dataran Loma, Gerik.
A total of 80 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bongor, SJKC Kuala Rui, SMK Batu 4 and SMK Bersia Felda participated in the program.
This initiative is a continuation of the ‘Litter Less Campaign’ organized by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), Denmark.
The involvement of these school students as change reporters aims to enhance public awareness of global environmental issues.
This initiative is a collaboration between MB Inc (Perak), the leading agency for sustainability programs based on the Eco-Schools project in schools in Perak.
In partnership with the Green Growth Asia Foundation (GGAF), it also received cooperation from the State Education Department (JPN) Perak and the Hulu Perak District Office.
These young volunteers are also engaged in river cleaning activities to encourage and foster responsibility for the environment.
Participants are encouraged to convey environmental narratives through photo stories with their best works.
This initiative will serve as the best platform to instill a love for the environment as responsible members of society.
The efforts of these young journalists in voicing environmental issues, showcasing their thought patterns and volunteer spirit, deserve praise. Congratulations and well done!
The program was inaugurated by the Exco for Women’s Development, Family, Social Welfare, Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives, Dato’ Salbiah Mohamed.
