IPOH: Land structural repair works on the illegally cleared areas near Bukit Kledang will be carried out soon, says Mentri Besar Incorporated (MB Inc).

Its chief executive officer Anuar Zainal Abidin said the Perak Land and Mines Office has asked those responsible for clearing the state-owned land to carry out repair works to prevent erosion near the slopes in the area.

The order includes the construction of a irrigation system and planting of trees.

“And to ensure the security of the area, MB Inc has deployed auxiliary police to monitor the situation,” Anuar said in a statement on Friday (Feb 8).

It was reported that about 10ha of land in the area had been illegally cleared.

This prompted concerns from members of the public and Sahabat Alam Malaysia about the condition of the hills.

It was later revealed that the clearing of land was done illegally to plant oil palm trees.

The Perak Forestry Department had also confirmed that the affected area is not in the Kledang Saiong Forest Reserve.
